1982-1999
Founding partner of the Westech companies, formed in 1982 and sold to CNI in 1999. Created industry mainstays in the high-tech recruitment business including the largest high-tech career portal - Virtual Job Fair, Westech ExpoCorp, and JobsAmerica, the nation's leading job fair companies with over 120 shows per year in major markets across the United States. Founded a direct marketing organization and a variety of advertiser supported national publications including High Technology Careers Magazine, Diversity Careers, Decade, and Future Outlook.
As a founding partner, Burrowes has played many roles in establishing his organization as an industry leader. His most instrumental work has been in planning strategically for his company's business path. He brokered partnerships with over a dozen major daily newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times and The Boston Globe and forged a series of valuable relationships with e-businesses like Netscape, Yahoo, Lycos, Amazon, AOL and over 50 others. Burrowes was central in identifying and negotiating the terms of purchase for complementary businesses to strengthen Westech's national reach.
Internally, Burrowes was responsible for restructuring Westech's three national operations, implementing self-directed work teams among the one-hundred plus employees and encouraging each segment of the organization to focus fully on the goals of the organization. The employees of Westech responded by achieving new levels.
