Brookdale

The quaint town of Brookdale sits nestled in California's scenic San Lorenzo Valley, surrounded by towering redwoods and exuding rustic charm. The area is home to a historic inn restored to its original grandeur, as well as over 80 miles of biking, hiking, and horseback riding trails across nearby state parks. Visitors can also explore local wineries, antique shops, art galleries, and campgrounds throughout the idyllic towns dotting the valley.

Previously called Clear Creek and then Brookville, this area was home to the Grover Lumber Mill by 1870. At that time, logging and lumber dominated industry throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains. In 1900, James Harvey Logan, a Santa Cruz judge and the creator of the loganberry, bought the mill. He established a creekside resort with cabins and camping, and opened the Brookdale post office in 1902.
